California experienced a historic winter snowpack in 2022-2023

Amid the winter of 2022-2023, California encountered historic heavy snowfall in the Sierra Nevada mountains. This occurrence impacted Yosemite National Park, where an unprecedented volume of snow accumulated. The remarkable snowpack subsequently triggered a surge in water movement through the park’s rivers and streams, resulting in a truly captivating transformation of the park’s waterfalls.

Prominent among the famed waterfalls within Yosemite National Park are Yosemite Falls, Vernal Falls, and Bridalveil Falls. These natural marvels within Yosemite Valley showcase remarkably heightened water flow. Yosemite Falls, the tallest waterfall in North America, experienced its most substantial water flow in over a century.

In May and June 2023, our photographic journey through the park yielded these remarkable images.
