Glacier Point in Yosemite National Park

I can never tire of driving to Glacier Point to view the majestic Yosemite Valley, Half Dome, Nevada, Vernal, and Yosemite Falls. The views from Glacier Point are spectacular! With the weather forecast for thunderstorms in the afternoon and Glacier Point Road opening, I knew we were in for dramatic cloud formations. The only downside to traveling to Glacier Point in May during the peak tourist season is the need for more available parking at the viewpoint. But we lucked out and only waited 30 minutes for a parking space.

For this trip to Glacier Point, I brought with me three lenses. The Leica Tele-Elmar-M 135mm f/4, Leica Super-Elmar-M 21mm f/3.4 ASPH, and ZEISS Distagon T* 35mm f/1.4 ZM. I was particularly blown away by the Leica Super-Elmar-M 21mm f/3.4 ASPH. The Leica Super-Elmar-M 21mm f/3.4 ASPH lens has a fantastic depth of field, and the crisp detail in the images is unlike any other wide-angle lens I have ever used.

The Leica Tele-Elmar-M 135mm f/4 came in handy with capturing close-up images of Nevada, Vernal, and Yosemite Falls. For a lens produced in the 1990s, the lens loved the sensor in the Leica M10.

And last but not least, the ZEISS Distagon T* 35mm f/1.4 ZM is turning out the be my primary lens on the Leica M10. The 3D image quality, depth of field, and contrast are tops compared to all the Leica lenses in my inventory. The ZEISS Distagon T* 35mm f/1.4 ZM is in a league.

Note: The images on this page were captured using the Leica M10, Leica Tele-Elmar-M 135mm f/4, Leica Super-Elmar-M 21mm f/3.4 ASPH, and ZEISS Distagon T* 35mm f/1.4 ZM lens. Capture One by Phase One was used to process the RAW files to black and white images.
